Hayley B Manning

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Dip. MBACP

It takes an immense amount of courage to start counselling/psychotherapy. The fact that you are even here, reading these words, means that you know there is another way you could be feeling. I believe in your ability to grow and change, and I want to help. I work from practice rooms in Surbiton which are easily accessible to those in Kingston, Teddington, Thames Ditton, Hinchley Wood and Esher.

With my clients I use an integrative approach, incorporating Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. Having an integrative approach means I have a range of psychotherapeutic ‘tools’ that I can call on. My work is always collaborative. You and I work closely together to find out what is distressing you and how we can best alleviate this pain.

I qualified as a psychotherapeutic counsellor from the well-respected Metanoia Institute in Ealing, West London and I am a registered member of the BACP. Having originally come from Canada, I have now lived in London for over 20 years. I worked within the construction industry for well over a decade and a half, before deciding to retrain as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I have found my calling.

Who I Work With

Balancing Rocks_edited.jpg

In my private practice, I see a variety of clients experiencing a range of difficulties. Many come who need help to cope with and understand their depression, anxiety, or relationship issues. I have a lot of experience working in bereavement and have worked with men and women of all ages and backgrounds to come to terms with their loss.

Grief is a cluster of emotions and physical feelings, which can be disorientating, debilitating and disturbing for many people. We will work together to figure out what your loss means for you and how you can learn to live with it.

Along with more common issues like depression and anxiety, I also work with ill health and chronic pain, and I have a particular interest and experience in reproductive, pregnancy and fertility complications.

Anyone interested in delving deeper into their past so that they can better understand what is going on for them in the here and now, could benefit from working with me.

I also currently work in the NHS with patients at The Royal Marsden Hospital, supporting those who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

How I Work

From a place of compassion and empathy, I offer a warm welcome and safe environment to explore the issues that are causing you concern. We will meet at the same place, same time, every week. We can work either in-person or online.

Often my work will be to help you recognise your resilience (even in those times when you were at your lowest, resilience was there in some form to bring you here, now) and to build more.

I want to know your story. Who are you and how do you view the world? I want to know how you make meaning of your experiences and how this impacts you right now.

My belief is that our therapeutic relationship is the basis for healing. Our interactions will allow me to see patterns or common themes that we can then use to inform what you may want to change.

Above all else, I offer a collaborative approach. It is for you to decide what is important to you. I simply point out what I notice, you then tell me whether it is something you wish to explore more.

Fees and Plans

01

15-min FREE phone call

We start with a phone call. This is for both you and me to learn a little more about each other. You can tell me more about what brings you here now. What is troubling you or causing pain. I can explain more about how I work and what you can expect. Once we establish the basics, we can book your initial consultation. Contact me now to arrange this call.

02

Initial Consultation

After we've spoken, we follow-up with a 50 minute initial consultation. This will cost £80. This will feel a bit like a counselling session, which gives you a really good idea of what it'll be like to share your story with me. It's also a chance for me to find out more details about you. It's quite natural to feel nervous and I will do my very best to make you feel at ease. If we both agree, we will then look at booking you in for your weekly sessions.

I offer several ways to work with me. From pay-as-you-go to block booking of sessions. This flexible way of working gives you options to suit your needs and situation. My fees range from £70 - £80 per session, depending on the option you choose. Block booking means you ultimately pay less for our sessions and that you can plan your life around counselling better. I can take you through these different options in more detail during our Initial Consultation and help you choose the plan which would be best for you.

03

6 weekly sessions

Choosing a 6 weekly block of sessions might be best for you if what brings you to counselling is very specific and you wish to work on this one issue. Or maybe you are unsure what you really need or want to focus on and you want to use this time to explore a few different topics.

Booking 6 weekly sessions will cost £450 and is payable in two equal payments of £225.

04

12 weekly sessions

Choosing to book the 12 weekly block will give you more opportunity to explore what is causing you distress. Maybe you need to take a slower approach or sense there is a lot you have been holding for a long time and you need time to tell me more about each one.

Booking 12 weekly sessions will cost £840 and is payable in three equal payments of £280.
